The title of this version is “Exemplary Strategies: Secret Transmission of the Five Methods of Fortification” (兵法雄鑑秘伝五法之縄). It is dated sometime in August, 1790. It was part of a non-profit translation project I volunteered in a while back, which was displayed publicly with other documents. Since it is no longer up online, this will act as a placeholder as a means to preserve this historical document.
The following pages will contain the original Japanese text reproduced along with my English translations. Hand drawn diagrams of the different types of castle fortifications recreated from the originals will also be provided. Images of the originals will not be posted.
